Prediction: Pain

If the ceasefire has fully unraveled by the Fall, let me be among the first to predict that the GOP will argue that “the insurgents want [insert Democrat nominee here] to win — they’re insurging to control our election. That’s how much they fear John McCain. And yes, a vote against John McCain is a vote for the terrorists.”

No offense, Cec, but this barely qualifies as a prediction. Of course the R’s will cynically exploit whatever happens in Iraq for full fear-mongering effect. The question is, will the D’s counter with an endless loop of “100 years of Iraq!” and “Sunni? Shia? What’s the difference?”, or will they wuss out John Kerry-style?

SCB: you are so right about that not really being much of a prediction, I briefly considered shutting down not just this site, but the whole internet. To hide my shame, to cover my tracks.
But then I remembered the children. They like the internet. It’s got pokemon stuffs.
